Here are some pictures of the bugs and the damage to rhubarb leaves and two small plum trees.
i have seen ants, small and red-brown as well as big black ones on these plants, I do not think they are
doing the damage.
any ideas?

aphids? scale insects
The larger whitish object in the first two images might be a dead 'mummified' aphid; there also is a tiny greenish insect that might be a very young aphid, but cannot see enough detail. The damage in the third image appears to be disease-related rather than insect caused. I see nothing identifiable in the fourth image, and the damage shown in the last image could be from a combination of insects chewing and disease...

I had been thinking that it would make sense to take measures against bugs and fungal disease, other than fungus I have no idea what kind of disease vector it could be.
