Wasn't Ill with the drought rationing- it's Calif! I finally caught the report again. Illinois is getting rain and maybe snow tomoro, those tadpoles eat mosquito larva, don't they? Poor frogs, they arent goin to be the only casualties in Calif before this is done.

Yup, just makes me more determined to provide habitat for the butterflies. I was just out there taking some photos with my iPhone. I don't know yet if I can post more than one at a time, but I will try. :-)

Nice, they showed up! Not in the order I would have preferred but it was actually easier than doing it with the laptop.

Okay, the first photo is of a California native, but for the life of me, I can't recall its name.
Photo number 2, is of a cactus flower. Silly thing usually blooms in July.
Photo number 3, is a flat of seeds that I sprouted. I am planning on transplanting them into the gardens starting this afternoon.
This is a view of the first flower bed that I planted, in photo number 4.
Last photo is of the same flat of seedlings. But now you can see what they are. :-)

My sincere thanks go out to bookerc for teaching me how to upload photos using my phone. You rock Angie. :-)

More soon.

My earth-bound butterfly showed back up today. I was so glad to see him so I put him on the lantana with all the other butterflies. I looked over and saw another butterflies doing what looked like mating behavior to him, or is that her. I thought oh that's nice, poor little thing is getting some attention. When I finished watering I went over to collect her and put her in the shade with an orange slice and she was gone! I looked the area over good and then realized, he must have carried her off! So I went looking out on the drive-way concerned for her safe landing and their she was. So she did get to go for a flight after all. She wandered off again this evening, I hope I see her tomarrow but maybe her boyfriend came back for her.

I just can't remember, but I do have the pot it came in some place. I also have photos somewhere. I'll find them eventually and make a tag for them. Thanks for the kind words, kittriana.

I was out planting Cosmic Cosmos today. I got just over half the plants in, before I got tired and had to quit. The rest will go in tomorrow or the next day. It's starting to look like something is growing there. :-)

Oh, Dee, how exciting and wonderful that the butterfly got to fly. :-) You know that you are getting obsessed with butterflies don't you? The good news is that I'm right there with you. :-)

I am still transplanting things, and planting seeds here. I just don't have enough time or energy to get everything done that I want to do. Sigh. I keep pecking away at the chores, and the stuff I want to do. Housework is just going to wait, until I am ready to do it. Ha ha ha. :-) Somehow it all seems to get done, usually arm twisting and begging are involved. Lately not so many tears of frustration or grief. :-)

I have to go see the dentist about a crown tomorrow, so I will check in when I can.

I am not good with container gardening or flower arranging, but succulents are always a safe bet for a pot.

Singing Wolf? Have you considered starting a shorter thread- same header with a pic and a link tween the 2? Its what we do on Back Porch Forum when the thread gets so long? Admin can do for you if you don't know what I mean, or don't know how to do this...
I am not one for pots either, my plants either need more water or more depth. I will show you tomoro what I have to go thru for digging an amaryllis up.

I ran into a neighbor at the market today. I hadn't seen him in long time and just as we parted company he thanked me for making my butterfly garden, that he had so many butterflies in his yard and he felt that it was because of my efforts. Gee, it's nice to be appreciated, I never knew any of the neighbors had even noticed.

Hi Julie,

I was thinking about the pot... some plants came to mind...fuschia, lobelia, superbena (trailing verbean) or possibly a trailing lantana... all of which should bring in some pollinators including butterflies. There are some lovely trailing lobelias...

Dee... that's wonderful... what a great thing to have happen. I am happy to hear that someone appreciates your efforts!

I was out last night and there were so many night pollinators out... everywhere... I was close enough to one moth to see his/her tongue darting in and out of the centranthus... it was so neat. I really enjoyed watching him and hated to move but started to get stiff standing still for so long.

Enjoy your gardens today! Nancy

Dee, I think that it's awesome that people tell you what you are doing is appreciated. I think that you are really cool, and do a lot more than most to make your space a harmonious backyard habitat.

Having visited your garden I can attest to the devotion you give to your spaces. I guess that saying about how you can touch people you have never met is true. Just think, that for every person who says something to you, another 10 were touched but didn't say anything to you.

All I know, is that you are a good teacher, and a great friend. :-)

I was thinking about lobelia too, Nancy. I read that it's the host plant for moths. I also read that it is a medicinal herb. :-) Some of the blue flowered ones would look like water spilling over the edge of the pot.
Hmmm.

I will try to remember how to start a new thread for the BEES tomorrow when I get on the computer. Thanks for the heads up, I forget sometimes.

SW, its actually easier on the smartphone. Use the same header, add a picture or 5, add a note. The links are formed by simply holding your finger on the folded up thread and those 2 pages that show are copy link, i will try to show you what to look for, but need my pencil. Edit becomes my friend!

How is this kitt?
New thread to be found following this link:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1392087/

I had to change the name on the title, because I had too many characters. Now it reads, Need Help Building a B. E. & E. S. page 2.

I wanted to thank everyone for their continued support. Hope to see everyone there. :-)
