I live in a condo community.....In the front yard of every condo is a flowering cherry or an ornamental plum....A neighbor lady called me to view her "weeping cherry" which she has planted in the back yard separately....It is not that big yet, but alarmingly I saw these hard black masses, each an inch or so, completely wrapped around 4-5 branches....I tried to look it up, and it looks like "black knot!".....1....Can this spread to all the flowering cherries in this 30 condo place????...And how????.....2......Since this tree is yet smaller at 5 ft or so, can the limbs be cut back now????.....3.....What is the prognosis and can anything be sprayed now?......Thought I seen a lot till this!!!!......Many thanks!!!!
The dreaded "black knot" fungal disease....
Wow, I don't know anything about this disease but can't she yank the tree and take it back to the nursery for credit?
