Please help ID this pretty flying insect.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi,
Is this a Damselfly of some sort? I don't see too many Damselflies or Dragonflies around here and when I do they rarely seem to land so I've never been able to get any decent pics.

This one seemed to really like the concrete sidewalk (maybe the heat?) and kept "parking" on it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Definitely a damselfly, but uncertain as to species - it resembles a teneral (newly emerged) specimen of this one -

Thanks a lot, Flapdoodle!

Would it help if I enlarged the picture some more, or is it a generic-looking Damselfly that resembles many different types?

Your images should be sufficient for someone who is a damselfly specialist (I certainly am not!) to identify it...

I really appreciate your help. You've identified several of my first-time insects so I trust your knowledge which is light years ahead of mine.

I'll leave the thread open for a while and see if my damselfly rings a bell with anyone.

Thanks again!
