Wood beetle? Find this guy hanging around my work same time every year. In Aptos, California near Santa Cruz. Aptos is close to the beach and vast wooded areas. Any help would be much appreciated. More curious than anything about this little big guy.
It's a long-horned wood-boring beetle in the family Cerambycidae - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/54352856@N04/5065829400/in/set-72157625002553847 for an example. Unfortunately, your camera focused on the background rather than on the beetle, so further identification is not possible.
Pine Sawyer beetle maybe? If I see it again I'll take a better picture.
