Lotus Seed

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

This is a first for me, I ordered Lotus seed from ebay and was successful in getting them to sprout. Now I don't know how or what to plant them in. Any help would be appreciated.

A small pot with heavy clay immersed in pail of water so that the new leaves can reach for the light. As it gets bigger you will need to move it up to a much bigger container (I used a plastic dish pan when I had a pond) and a shallow pond (like a kiddie pool if that is all you want to grow). Do not use a potting mix since the mix will float out of the pot - that is the reason for a clay mix (you can mix sand in and top with gravel to keep it all in place).

Check out a water pond place for more directions.

Thanks for the info. I did use some spaghum Moss on the bottom of a clay pot and then on top. With potting soil in the middle since I don't have any heavy soil here. So far this seems to be working and it is not coming out of the pot. I only did this with 2 of the 9 plants I was able to get sprouted so I'll see how well they do and I'll update here as time goes by.
