This guy was walking on a path... about 1 3/4 inches (counting legs) He was in Southeast Texas. It does look intimidating! Thanks for the help!

This is a mygalomorph spider (tarantulas, trap-door spiders, etc.); it looks more like a trap-door than a typical Texas brown tarantula to me...
