Black beetle identification?

(Ottawa) I found this really tiny black bug on a tree today. Any clue what type it is? It is pretty flat and a bit shiny. It is also pretty long and skinny. Sorry for the bad picture.

Other than saying it's a tiny beetle, can't say much more from this image - could be in any of several different families...
