I came across this last year feeding on white flowering milkweed. Is it a moth? Can anyone help me out?
CLOSED: Is this one a moth?
Yes, a clearwing moth, I believe.
It's in the family Sesiidae; appears to be a well-worn squash vine borer moth that has lost many of its scales - http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Melittia-cucurbitae
Of course you are right Flapdoodle. And once again thank you so much for you informed help.
