What species grows these leaves? Forgive me if it's any easy one, as I am really rusty from the winter.

Did you take pictures of the whole plant? Looks like a Magnolia of some kind from here.

Rusty? There are lubricants for such...and why the down time? Trees are still there, waiting to be seen, scrutinized, and identified. They took no time off.
