Teri, That pot rack looks great, very creative thinking.
So here are a few pics. of my plant dolly repurpose. He also built the shelf with the decoys out of scrap wood.
Yardening May 17+ 2014
Terri and Holly--very creative! :-)
Here is the monster water plant. The Birdbath pond is approx 6ft across and 3ft deep. It is a concrete well with a cast column in the middle for the Bird Bath to sit on. The water is pumped up though the column and birdbath to flow over the edge and back into the pond well. The water iris is filling about 1/3 of the open space The plant sits on a plastic milk crate the roots grow completely thru and around the crate to the point that it can no longer be seen. I have the pond more than 1/2 empty hope fully next week I will take out the plants remove the rest of the water and Ric and the boys can get it out. Last year we started to tile the edge of the pond. About 3/4's of it is done just the back needs tiled and then all the tile needs grouted so when that is finished I can put some of the plants back into it.
Roses, sorry to hear about your arm. Your neighbor seems like a nice person, but it sounds like one or both dogs need to be taught not to jump on people. If the dog had chomped on one of her kids like that, the damage would have been worse because their arms are so small.
Aspen and Holly, you're both so creative! I would never come up with those type of re-purposing ideas.
Holly, it looks like it's time to take a saw to that monster iris! Your birdbath pond is gorgeous by the way. The birds and frogs must love it.

Thanks Muddy, It really is pretty right now the birds aren't too happy with me as I have shut down the bird bath for the time being.
I'm sure you all saw this video: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/cat-saves-boy-vicious-dog-attack-article-1.1791876
go cat go haha dog probably wet himself
Just a thought here- my personal suggestion with swap plants is to be conservative about trying to plant them all in ground. First swap, I came home with all kinds of new stuff, put it all over, and couldn't keep track of what was where to water. And some of these things will have just been dug and potted days ago/ hours before.
Very good food for thought Sally!
Holly, man, that bird bath pond is so pretty, and your Iris looks so happy there! Little froggie is just sitting on the edge thinking to himself "WHAT are these people doing!?" Hahahahaaa!! =)
What huge irises and what a wonderful spot for the birds! I can just hear them squawking at you until it's back on line! :-)
Very cool repurposes, ladies. LOVE them!!!
Good idea, Sally! BTW, I'm almost as excited as I was last year before the swap at my house. Sooooo looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. YIPPEE!!!!!
That is a pic from last year when Monster Iris was big but not quite so monstrous.
That's a beautiful pond setup you guys have there!
Oh Holly and Ric, that frog is adorable!
We need to clean or muck out the ponds before filling, it will not be done today , too cold to be soaked for hours, LOL I need a very warm day for that job. I also have to figure out how to lift the monster, Jamie and I together could not. I'll probably have to rig a lever of some type or separate it in place with a sawsall.
It wasn't too hot here and the iris are still putting on one heck of a show. We need to get a few more annual in for color till the summer perennials start up. With these continuing cool nights it will be August before they get going.LOL
Frog inspired by Rodin?

I vote sawzall to start at least.
Definitely sawzall!!
I'll probably bring some seedlings for zinnia, cosmos, marigold with me.
Cat- I could use some marigold seedlings. Apparently they help deter groundhogs? At least that is what I'm hearing at the community garden plots.
Every time I get cosmos, it seems something happens to them that kills them. Mostly powdery mildew I think. I stopped getting them due to their poor performance. I love zinnia though!
okay, Terp--got you covered for some T. patula 'Nana' seedlings.
I find marigold useful for keeping all kinds of critters away! :-)
Awesome thanks.
We are bringing 3 flats of Sweet Cream Marigolds to the swap. One flat is spoken for the other 2 are extra we could bring more if needed. Each flat has 12 -6pks.

I would love one of your marigold sweet cream Holly!
Got ya.
Holly, I don't know how you're going to keep it all straight but can I just have 2 6-packs?
Sure can.
I sure wish it would stop raining here so I could dig up some more plants. I was having such a good time last evening digging and potting.
Holly you can add me to the list for a sixer or two. :)
Got ya, too.
I'd like some of somebody's marigolds. pls and TY
LOL Sally since I am sure we all have different marigolds why limit your self get some from everyone.
8 ^D
yay
Sally, already got you down for T. patula 'nana' seedlings! :-) Actually these have grown a lot and are past the seedling stage now... :-o
yippee!
I had heard about the cat attacking the dog, but hadn't seen the video. What an amazing cat! Thanks for the link, Happy.
Ric and Holly, those are awesome huge boulders you have near your pond. They really contribute to the landscape.
Sawzall are so useful for gardening that they really should be sold in every garden center : )
I've had dense clumps of Miscanthus and Irises that I couldn't have separated without a saw or ax, and we don't own an ax.
wish we were coming to the swap... will stop back to visit the threads after the weekend of trades. happy swapping!
We'll miss you Wind; it won't feel like a proper swap without you!
I never heard of a Sawzall before -- is it this? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-12-Amp-Sawzall-Reciprocating-Saw-with-Case-6519-31/202438078
So you recommend it? It looks as if it would be easy to poke yourself with it....
This is too funny. DH was just telling me that he wanted to buy me a Sawzall. I told him it'd be a waste of money, but maybe not!
Muddy, you're right, it'd be fantastic at dividing miscanthus. I had a heck of a time sawing mine.
