Hi guys, I wondered if you could identify this spider for me please.
I can guess what it is, but to be honest it's a pure guess and it could be anything.
Spider Identification Needed
This is one of the cobweb/comb-footed spiders in the genus Steatoda, it looks somewhat like Steatoda triangulosa to me, but I cannot be certain from these images.
I forgot to mention that it's in the UK.
My initial thought was that it looks like the 'False Widow' that has been in the media in the UK a lot.
From a quick read of the genus that you said, pretty much all of that genus are false widows.
My main question was whether or not it has a bite that can penetrate human skin.
After a quick read I've found that the Steatoda Triangulosa is not known to bite.
