Hi, sorry if this is a super-newbie question.
I ordered some Tiger Lily bulbs (Lilium tigrinum Splendes), and am a little confused about whether I can plant them outdoors now, or whether I need to keep them stored in a cool place and wait until early autumn. Some online sources say they can be planted any time between late March and July; others say plant in autumn. I'm just trying to make sure I don't kill them before they even get started!
They would ultimately go in my backyard in partial to full sun, but I can plant them in pots indoors if necessary to get them started/if that would be better for them.
Thanks-- there's just a lot of conflicting info out there. Any input is much appreciated!
Planting Tiger Lily bulbs
I plant my Tiger lilies practically anytime, but I don't plant them in the fall or winter. I would be afraid they would grow tender stems/leaves and winter temperatures will kill that growth. That's here in NE Mississippi. Florida and S. CA plantings could probably be done any season.
Mine are all outdoors in either full sun or mostly sun. They do all die back in the fall. Mine are just getting ready to bloom. They seem to be very durable plants.
