Hi,
Would you please help me identify the type of bug that this is pictured in this photo?
My guess is that it is an ant, but if so I am not sure what tribe it is.
I found it in New York City.
It is about 1/16 of an inch long.
I believe that it may have arrived in a package of nuts and have been alive for many months.

Not an ant, but a tiny beetle in the family Silvanidae - look up "saw-toothed grain beetle"...
