rose of sharon

Sevierville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have to dig up a 3ft tall bush for the wife. I would like to know what type of root system it has so when I go to dig it I know what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

It is a pink Rose of Sharon. Sorry about my fingers getting ahead of my mind, happens quite a bit lately..

I've never dug out a 3' specimen before but last weekend I pulled out a one year seedling that had perished over the winter and it wasn't an easy pull. Based on that, I'd assume they can get a decent root system on them.

Are u transplanting? If yes the good news is they transplant well , just water daily and slow watering a bit as you see new growth as sign that is has taken. They don't hv a long tap root, but rather a massive ball. Being 3 ft, I think u can handle fairly easily and the rootball won't be big
