SnowRabbit, so sorry to read about your accident. I started gardening while recovering from a serious auto accident. It is so frustrating when you are in pain and can't do the things you want to do. In time, you will begin to recover and feel better.

If you still have seeds left, I would love a few....

I'd love to try an authentic three sisters garden. If this one isn't available, you can substitute a different one.

Special Pack C: Mini Indian Corn 'Wampum', Pole Bean ‘Uncle Walt’s Cranberry’, Winter Squash ‘Sweet Meat’, Pumpkin ‘Queensland Blue’

I also like these if you still have them:
Lagurus ovatus "Bunny Tail Grass"
Lupinus spp.- Annual & Perennial Lupine mix
Ipomoea hederacea- Ivy-leaf Morning Glory (baby blue blossoms)
Capsicum annuum- Sweet Pepper 'Lipstick'
Pisum sativum- English Pea 'Little Marvel'

I have seeds for little peppers and tomatoes suitable for containers and other things if you want some.

Hi Snow,

Sorry to hear about your accident. Sometimes life does some crazy things to us and we have to adapt. I lost my father in 2009 and due to his long illness prior to his death I was required to leave (was not married then) my green house and plants unattended during harsh winter months which resulted in me losing everything. On the bright side I was able to give my father several months of attention and love before he passed and for that reason alone I do not regret losing all my plants. I am making my way back to my passion now that life seems to be under control. I am noticing though that now...I am not as young and as robust as I was prior to my father passing and my back has betrayed me. Oh well...we adapt and love life for what it is today.

I had a 2013 garden at my house in Cypress, Texas and it was very successful. I moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas this February of 2014 because my husband is from Arkansas. We put a raised be in this January and currently growing herbs, tomatoes, broccolli, lettuce, onions (1015 and red), beans, summer squash, peppers and white cucumbers. My goal is to get some seeds started in a couple of weeks for a fall garden. I also promise to give any of my seed to you for postage as soon as you are ready to play in the dirt again.

Looking at your list I am not sure what you still have in your stash. I am quite interested in the following.

I wonder what the translation would be for 'plays with dirt' ;)

Onch pauochau'ut nunnobohke

There is no word for 'with', so had to use 'in'.

Still: Onch
Plays: pauochau'ut
'ut: in
Dirt: nunnobohke

SnowRabbit, I love it!! Thank you! (Mahalo)

Yours (snow rabbit) in Hawaiian is: Haulāpaki

Hau (pronounced "how"), meaning snow.
Lāpaki (pronounced luh pah kee, with an emphasis on the first a), meaning rabbit.

...hey...can I play? I want to play too!

How do you say 'Robin' in both a First Nation's tongue and Hawaiian?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Robin: Quequisquitch

Kway-kwis-kwitch

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

I told my oldest son my DG name, translated.. He just stared and made me repeat it! LOL this is the kid who wants to learn Latin and German for fun.

I don't recall ever seeing robins in Hawaii, so I'll do the standby English name - Hawaiian translation. There are no "R" or "B" in hawaiian language, so it gets swapped for an "L" and "P". And all consonants must be followed by a vowel, so add an "A" to the end, and you end up with "Lopina". (Low-pea-nuh) :))

My birth name is Rebecca, and that translates to Kapeka, my nickname as a child. My middle name is Kekaikapuowahineaukai. Try spelling that as a grade schooler! Lol

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks you two...Native American is a little tough to pronounce for a newbie (let alone spelling) and it's interesting for sure! I really enjoyed this lesson, I'm certain I've got one over everyone else now.

Off to practice...
Mahalo Onch pauochau'ut nunnobohke and Haulāpaki
