Found in the center of our white California poppies. It has wings and flies away. Good bug? Bad bug? Thank you in advance for such wondrous identification forums and the people who help answer us!!!

This looks like a varied carpet beetle, Anthrenus verbasci - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/75394078 for an image. The adult beetles are pollen feeders (which explains finding it in a flower) whereas their larvae can be destructive pests.
Oh dear. Thank you.
It looks like a carpet beetle to me. I often find them in the flowering tops of my green onions.
