2014 N Central TX RU in Arlington**May 18th** ATTENDANCE

Dallas, TX

I don't think we need a food list. Just give us that wonderful sopaipilla cheesecake!

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

Mmm sopapilla cheesecake! Have you ever made it with a double "cheesecake" layer? It's amazing.. and me and the MIL speculate it would be even more amazing with an additional layer of cherry pie filling! Dammit now I'm hungry and it's late!

Dallas, TX

SPWD - Stop that! If you come up with more variations we might insist that you bring some.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Smockette and I agree with a 9x13 it would be even more good with double the cream cheese (not sure she has tried that yet.. I don't know how she will make it as it is so expensive to make.
Between the crescent rolls and cream cheese I can't remember how much it cost for a 9 x 13 but I remember it was ALOT.

mmmmm thinking to myself maybe we should cut so everyone can have a piece....mmmm probably not if I get there first rotflol

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

I can bring a 9x13 sopapilla cheesecake, with double cheesecake layer, with or without cherries, just lmk. Was also thinking antipasto pasta salad would be good.. Sorry I'll save it for the food thread!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

mmmmmm can you bring me some of both today??? lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

If you go to the recipe forum, the sopapilla cheesecake recipe is stickied at the top and there are MANY variations listed. :) http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/recipes/all/

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

You could always bring cherries on the side but I love it just the way it is but with the double cream cheese. :)

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

Mebbe we should start a HONGREE thread
RIGHT THIS MINUTE, not to be confused with the food thread for RU !!!!
( as I munch a salad ) :)

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL!! Y'all are too funny, if no one else signs up to bring it, I surely will :)

I'm having salad too, as soon as I get a chance, starving here!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I contacted Patrob btw and she won't be making it this spring but does hope to see everyone in the fall.
If anyone knows someone who hasn't checked in send them a private message.

Do you save the foam egg cartons or paper ones?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy, Kate will take either if memory serves me right. I have about a two foot stack of 18 ct foam ones. Almost threw them away a couple months ago.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, I believe you are right.

I once got some of her beautiful eggs, and sort
of recall she used both kinds of cartons.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Great I have a few I will bring :)

Dallas, TX

I went to a talk on butterflies today (Dale Clark said to tell Sheila and Josephine hello) and started talking with a gardener from Garland. I told her about the RU and that she could be my guest. She said she definitely is going to join us but I don't know how definite her definite is.

I'll just make sure that I have an extra door prize or 2 or 3. And extra $$.

Dale is so nice! He's a wealth of information, too!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes he is both! Thanks for passing along the hello. Great to have another interested in butterflies attend our RU, hopefully she will come. I have been at several talks and training sessions where Dale was the speaker. He is always interesting and passionate about his job of doing what he loves all his life.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, we all love Dale and his passion for butterflies, he is a great guy and so kind and generous.

Dallas, TX

My potential guest, Susan Graham, is friends with Dale.

I just have to say that I love the name 'msgrubbyfungus'.

Red Oak, TX

I was wondering why my ears were burning! :) Thank you all for the kind words. I might be able to make it to the RU, but I've got a field trip on Saturday and I'm waaay behind on everything, so I may not be able to fit it in. Love the round ups -- good plants, good food, and good people.

Dale, it would be so wonderful to see you! Hope you can make it!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, it would be great Dale.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

My Sunday plans have changed, so I will have to miss the RU. :-( I don't have any plants to share this spring, but I would have liked spending time with folks. I will see y'all in the fall.

Carla
(aka Loonie1)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry you can't make it Carla.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ditto, double hugs in the fall!

Dallas, TX

I've had some dental minor work done on Wed. which has left me with lovely small bruises and swelling on my face around my lips. If everyone promises not to laugh (snickering accepted) and not to take any pictures of me, then I will still be at the RU. I thought I'd be 'all clear' by Sunday but doesn't look like it. I would hate to cancel but I am kinda self-conscious. If I were to cancel, could my guest still attend? (I'd send $$ to help with costs.)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Please don't cancel unless the pain is too great. Got stuff for you :) ((((TFC)))

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

TFC, we won't be worried about your face, as long as you show up for hugs, food and plants! Do bring your guest too! You can hide behind your door prize, so that settles it come bearing plants, guests, food & door prizes!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe our hugs and your new plants will help you get better!! Please come join us. We won't make you feel bad or anything. If anything, we might commiserate with you!

Dallas, TX

Pain is only vanity, she says sheepishly. Thanks for reassurance (and the door prize better be big enough to hide my face), so I'll see y'all on Sunday. Don't want to miss out on the sopapilla cheesecake or my peeps.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That's the spirit! I've brought my husband along after he's had back surgery and still wearing a back brace as well as a few months after having open heart surgery. It'll be good for your spirit, if nothing else.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm on you to be brave and show up.

You know how it is when you wake
up in the morning feeling crappy &
don't feel like doing anything or
going anywhere, but do it anyway
and then feel SOOOOO much better ?

You end up being glad you got up
and went.

That is how you will be at the RU.

It does a body good !

And it will be about five months
before you get another chance

!
