Hi everyone,
I photographed these two little fellows last week, in a wetland area in Southern France.
I am pretty positive the first one is a Larionides cornutus, but I cannot seem to ID the second one.
I guess it would be an orb-weaver spider, but I am not 100% sure which species.
Confirmation of spider ID
It is an orb weaver, looks like it might be a Metepeira sp.
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it looks like Metepeira is only found in the Americas, not in Europe (at least, according to Discover Life: http://www.discoverlife.org/20/q?search=Metepeira )
My apologies - I was in a hurry, and completely overlooked the fact that you were not in the USA! Try Agalenatea redii - http://www.entoflorachne.com/garrigue/images/Agalenatea%20redii%201.jpg
I only now see your message. Thank you very much, that looks like it!
