Conifer That Had Longer Cones

East Bridgewater, MA

This one had very sharp needles and a longer cone than other conifers I'm used to. I started to get overwhelmed at this point, because everything looked the same!

Tough one; a spuce of some sort. The in-hand cone is a bit past its sell-by date, so isn't too helpful for identification, can you get some more cone close-ups of better specimens?

I don't have any more pics of this one. It's on my way to work though so I'll try to get better specimens.

I think you should also take good images of the terminal buds, and shots along the stems where needles and buds may be evident.

What happens when you want to ID one of these, sans any reproductive structures?

Oh yeah - that's the Screwpine (Pandanus sp.)...

I can't ID conifers without cones yet.
