Hi all,
I've been wanting to learn how to do root cuttings for a while. While I imagine this method would work for lots of different plants, my main interest is for 'Cardinal Flower' - Lobelia Cardinalis.
The Hummingbirds absolutely LOVE this plant so I'd like to have more, but they don't bloom the first year and are not long-lived. I do let the seeds drop (not many have sprouted), but I've read that with root cuttings they'll actually bloom the first year.
Anyway, I was searching around and found this video put out by Nashville Public Television. The lady in the video is showing a plant I'm not familiar with, but I imagine the technique would be the same.
Sorry, but I'm not able to upload pictures right now or I'd upload a shot of a 'Cardinal Flower'. I'm trying to learn how to use a new computer with Windows 8 (very steep learning curve) and haven't gotten that far.
Here's the link to the video. I hope it helps some of you as much as it has helped me.

I found a helpful You Tube video on how to do ROOT CUTTINGS
Thanks! That was really helpful. Good luck with your windows hate learning curve.
I like that Video also I watched it last week or so ago , Good browsing there ,,
Mipii ~ You're Welcome! It will have to be a Wintertime project to root the cuttings, but I'm excited. Yeah, learning Windows 8 is becoming a full-time job. ☺
Juhur ~ I deleted it from my post in that other thread because it wasn't working when I tried it yesterday. I don't know if it was a DG glitch or something I was doing. Maybe I'll re-post it tomorrow.
