I have quite a few large gardens in Central Florida. The past 2 months we had alot of rain. This year I am seeing slugs and snails in massive proportions eating/killing everything from my milkweed to vegetable garden beds and every bed and boarder in between. 98% of my plants are nectar and host for butterflies. I went and purchased diamethiacus earth from the only place I could find it (that wasn't a pool store or for pool use). It says "fine" and I read its the texture that keeps the slimies away and the man said this would work (and if not I can deworm my dog with it). Before I go and spread this around every plant (almost an acre of beds) any suggestions how to get rid of this problem? Or the proper way ro use the "earth"? Thank you.
infestation of snails, slugs
I use Slug-B-Gone in my greenhouses and it seems to be effective. This is in the form of pellets and the pellets last approximately 6-8 weeks. I don't know what you should do with an acre of outside gardens/flower beds.
