I'm in West Palm Beach, Fl. I have a real problem with small black gnats inside my apartment. They fly and attack me voraciously. I rarely catch a glimpse of them and have never been able to get a photo of one because the only time I actually see them is when they occasionally fly past my field of view but I can feel them crawling all over me and I get bitten constantly, especially at night. I have all of the symptoms of a scabies infestation. No insecticides have ever worked on them. Treating for scabies or lice only thins the herd but the problem never goes away. They are in my apartment, in my clothes, on me, etc.. They are everywhere I go. I went to Chicago for 4 months last summer and they went with me. I clean constantly. I just recently bought an allergen remover and vacuum cleaner both with Hepa filters, but they also only seem to marginally help. I just had an exterminator out last week and I have spent thousands of dollars looking for a cure. I went to a doctor and was prescribed permethrin which never helped. I went through 5 tubes at a hundred dollars apiece before my prescription ran out. I tried everything on this page: http://www.naturasil.com/natural-scabies-treatment/ for the last two months to no avail. I've tried every type of bug spray I can find to the point where I wound up in the hospital because of poisoning myself. I've had exterminators come out. Nothing seems to get rid of them. Are they no see-ums or something else? Please help!!!
No see-ums?
It's just possible that you might find some useful information in this publication - http://www2.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/entfactpdf/ent58.pdf

I didn't find any new information in that link. I was hoping someone would help me identify these bugs so I can get rid of them.
Sorry - It simply is not possible to make any identification from your description...
Is it possible you're having a reaction to soaps, dyes, foods etc? It kind of sounds like something other than insects. Possibly an allergy or something of that nature?

No it's definitely bug bites. If I spray Raid flea and bed bug killer they calm down. Talstar works best, but nothing I've tried so far gets rid of them completely. I just ordered some Talstar, it should be here in a few days. Up until now, the only one that was spraying Talstar was my exterminator and I haven't been able to get him to come out often enough. I have to be careful though. I over did it with the bug spray last summer and wound up in the hospital with an upper respiratory infection. I have seen them but only when they fly past my tv screen if I'm sitting right in front of it and if I stay on top of it they don't get old enough to fly.
