Seed ID- Echinacea for starters

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

There seems to be some confusion over what Echinacea seed looks like. Would someone post some pictures of different varieties of actual echinacea seed. Does ALL echinacea seed look similiar? I know this sounds silly, but I have been given "seed" by friends that I am pretty sure is not the actual seed. Some ID would be helpful.

As far as I know are all echinacea seeds looking the same. Depending on the specie they might be a bit bigger or smaller.

Thank you Jonna for posting those pictures. It is difficult for some of us (especially Newbies) to know what the actual seed looks like. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that the "thistle" part of the seed head is what you plant. So maybe these pictures will help to clear up the confusion.
Whenever I am dealing with seed that I am unfamiliar with, I do try to research it. Some seeds are very hard to find good pictures of.

I'm working on a database with seed pictures. Well, it will take some time to do that. As soon as it is online, I will notice you.
In the meantime, you can have a look at my website. I will start to show pictures of seeds there soon.

That is wonderful! I have had a very hard time finding good pictures of certain seeds, and I would love to be able to go to ONE place to find them! I wish you the best of luck on your new endeavor.
