Weevil?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

Hello I see a bug crawling up the wall in the bathroom. I thought it had a snout. Once I put it in a jar I could see that it does have a long snout like a weevil. Very small, about 1/4 inch or less and dark in color/black. So I'm assuming that is what it is.

2 weeks ago it warmed up to 60 outside, I seen a large bug in the kitchen sink, I thought it was one of those pesty stink bugs until I put my glasses on! It also had a long snout but actually was big, maybe 1 inch long. it had yellowish legs and seemed to be dark in color on its back.

I did read of the weevil that can get into rice, beans etc. I checked all them and no signs of pest. (I did put all in the freezer to be safe).

I'm just wondering if I'm getting an invasion of some type of bug or if it's just a coincidence? I have the little bug in a jar and will try to get a photo to post. Thanks for any advice!

These are about the best I can get for how small he is.

It is indeed a weevil; it superficially at least resembles one of the grain/granary weevils in the genus Sitophilus, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_weevil for an example.

Ahhhh.... I found the invasion!! They were in the wild bird seed bag that I bought from the feed store.

I have a bird that I've had for 25 years and I put all his food in the oven. (I didn't see any in with his food)! Gross, those bugs are so small, I looked in the bag and they actually looked like tiny wasp! Hopefully I caught them on time!

Thanks for the link!
