CLOSED: 6 legged insect with red body with white spots and black leg

Hello everyone,
I am a photographer from Louisiana and I like to take Macro shots and give everyone a write up on the things I find. I came across this insect on one of the flowers I was photographing. Before I get too close and personal with this little guy I thought it would be nice to find out what it is, or mainly what it can do. (Just in case I make it upset)
Any help on identifying it would help, I've looked but no luck on this one. It is very small, maybe a half inch in size.

Steady, Gheens is in Lafourche Parish between Raceland and Lake Salvador, not far from Lockport.
