Very tall tree with extremely smooth, naked bark. The pine cone has to be unique. This tree was more or less on it's own compare to the others, so I think the cone belongs to it. I think I've seen this type of cone before, but I can't remember...

The cone does NOT belong to the tree in the first three images - which I think is a Chamaecyparis sp., but am not certain.

The cone belongs to a Pseudotsuga menziesii - Douglas-fir.

First rule of ID: just because it's found under a tree, doesn't mean it belongs to that tree. It is an easy way to fool folks. Weather, gravity, wind, rain, and varmints move things around.
