I saw a deciduous azalea in the Mo. Botanical Gardens that was beautiful.
The flowers were lavender. They were all over the branches of the shrub with no leaves. It looked like a lavender cloud.
I have searched off and on for this shrub for years and have not been able to find it in any garden center or on line.
I don't know the name of it. I am assuming it is deciduous since the blooms were present before the leaves.
Could anyone please give me some direction in naming this shrub. Perhaps someone could please tell where I might purchase one?
Deciduous Azalea
Did you try visiting MoBot's website, and perusing their plant collections list? Or writing to them, and asking what it is (include date of your visit)? Nothing like going to the source for answers.
Including that same info here would help in identifying what it is that you saw...
MoBot has a lot of these Korean azaleas.
They bloom really early.
Maybe this is your plant?

Weerobin, I think that's it. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, it's the third and fourth picture.
Thank you for showing me these pictures.
I wonder if I could find one in STL area for sale? Do you have any suggestions?
