My lemon tree leaves are having a problem. They become scaly, in some cases they curl. Last year we had no fruit but that was due to a late freeze that killed all the blooms. So I don't know if that had anything to do with this problem. But it did start last summer and is still going on.
I have butterfly weed that did great two years ago. Last year bugs attacked & ate off most foliage & flowers. I kept trying to treat with pesticide but it didn't help. I am attaching some pictures that I took this afternoon. Any help will most appreciated.

Don't see anything remarkable in the first image. The second image shows tunneling by a leaf miner (usually the larva of a small fly), these primarily cause cosmetic damage that does not seriously harm the plant. The discolored patches in the third image might be either insect- or environment-related; can't tell for sure. The red critters in the fourth image appear to be young nymphs of a true bug - these have piercing-sucking mouthparts, and would not 'eat' the foliage or flowers. You might try contacting your county office of Florida's Cooperative Extension service (http://solutionsforyourlife.ufl.edu/map/) to see if they can offer any assistance.
I agree the first three images show the damage of a leafroller; we have the same one here. They do leave slug-like trails sometimes. They are very hard to fight. Neem oil might repel them.
not leaf roller, leaf miner. the rolled leaves are usually the result of insufficient water on citrus here in florida. if the tree gets enough water, then what is your feeding schedule? leaf curling can also be a nutrient deficiency. as flap said, the leaf miners usually aren't too harmful but you can try Ferti-Lome Borer, Bagworm, Leaf miner spray, available at Ace. it has the organic agent, spinosad, in it and works well for many problems.
your butterfly weed is super prone to aphids and a beetle that adores it. can't think of the name offhand but it is almost impossible to eliminate them without causing harm to the butterflies and their larvae who subsist on the plant. if you just leave it alone, nature will take care of it. none of these insects will kill it; they just co-exist.
These insects do not actually enter the leaf, so they are not a miner. I'll get the name of it from my citrus grower.
On a second look (with my glasses on) I can see that Trackinsand is right, the second image shows a leaf miner. The first and third pics show our "fruit tree leaf roller" Archips argyrospila. Bt should work on this. I haven't found anything that works on the leaf miner.
Vestia, I have the same problem. If I don't wear my specks, things look MUCH different! LOL
I have had a Meyer Lemon tree in a container since April 2012 with no problems. I had several lemons last year. This year I have 10 lemons but something is eating the leaves. What could it be?
