Arbequina olive tree dropping leaves

Tree is only about 2 or 3 years old - 3 feet tall. I have to bring it indoors off and on because of our erratic weather.
It is in indirect bright light under a fan when in but has begun dropping leaves. I water it sparingly and have only
used slow release fertilizer. Love my tree. Can anyone help me? I'm in zone 8b/9b but this week we have had rain
with ice pellets!!
