And thank you Catmint, for being such a lovely Hostess!! GREAT JOB!!! < =D
Caladium Bulb Buy
awww, thanks, Speedie! One of these days we'll get to meet in person!! :-)
Catmint, you did a great job with this co-op! It wouldn't have happened if I'd had to keep track of the order... and I know we're going to be happy with Bill's bulbs!
BTW, he just emailed me... we're getting the per 100 price break on the tuberoses if we get 75... I said "sold!!" :-)
So let me know how many you want... I have no problem taking any extras, so don't feel you "have to " order the larger number, just decide what you want to spend on them. If the discount exactly pays for shipping, they'll be just $1.50 each, 5 for $7.50
I did bump up Terp and Coleup to 5 tuberose clusters each, because it's easier for the sorting people to just deal with multiples of 5... but we can do 3 if need be.
bag of 75 tuberoses
--20 Yehudith
--5 Catmint
-- 5 for Coleup
-- 5 fo Terp
-- 5 for Donner
-- 10 for Critter
-- 10 for Happy
-- 10 for Chantell
-- 5 extras

You can bump me to 10.
done :-)
I just found this thread. Are there any tuberose or pink caladium left? If I am too late, no problem.
For what it is worth, I got the moonlight caladium from a Brendt and Becky sale. They are striking! They are dormant in pots inside right now. I am going to lift them a repot a couple in a smaller pot which I will try to jump start in the furnace room. I have baggies of seeds in vermiculite trying to germinate in the warm furnace room. I think the seeds and plants would like it warmer than I set my thermostat (I keep it at 62-65'F). Winston the pug sleeps by the heating grate.
Hi GardenQuilts!
Are you able to make it down to Frederick for the February seed swap? Otherwise we'd need someone who lives near you to be your "bulb fairy."
Jill, I guess it's a good thing we got those extra tuberose!
I am not going to make it to MD. I can skip this one. Hope everyone has fun at the swap!
SSG- speaking of bulb fairies...
I'm not sure I'll be making it to the seed swap. Would you be my fairy if need be?
Got you covered, Terp!
Is there no-one who lives near enough to GardenQuilts who could be her bulb fairy? Hate to see her miss out on tuberose if she wants them. < =/
Depending on what size Flat Rate Priority Mail box Gardenquilts order will fit in I would be happry to pack and reship to her for postage. Or when weather is more settled at a lesser rate.
If anyone has ever thought about shipping stuff I have found Flat Rate Priority Mail to be really easy and often forthigs that would ordinarily ship by weight, as long as it fits the box, it ships for one rate. More infor on USPS site. Boxes are free at each Post Office of the various sizes.
Judy
Yoooo Hoooooo!
Hope everybody is staying warm & safe today.
Currently, SSG is the ONLY person coming to my place before the seed party to sort caladium bulbs. I think she needs help! One other person would probably be enough; 4 people altogether would probably mean enough time to swing by DPF before the swap. 9 or 9:30 would be ideal, but arriving by 10:30 would still be helpful. (Although this will happen at my house, I won't really be available to help out.)
Please post here if and when you can come!
Thanks!
Critter-- I'm coming too! I'm dmailing you.
Got your Dmail Happy, thanks! We'll look forward to seeing you either here or at Chef Lin... don't stress if you hit any travel delays!
SSG assures me she's got it well in hand, even if it's just her, so everybody needs to give her an extra hug when they pick up their bulbs!
SSG you are the best!! :-) thanks!
I think this will be a pretty straightforward sort, so I'm all set!
:-)
I just talked to Bill, and everything is set for our box to go out on Monday! He said that although shipping cost would be more than our 10% discount covered, he would absorb the difference. Hooray for extra savings -- and easier invoicing! He always goes that one step further to make us happy. Thanks, Bill!
You'll get final totals when the box is on its way, just in case anybody has last-minute tweaks to their order over the weekend.
One "tweak" that might be of interest...
Bill was really excited about some jumbo size bulbs that had just come in for 'White Wing', aka 'Angel's Wing', a gorgeous premium strap-leaf variety. He took one look at the first box and promptly ordered another 5 bushels. :-) He said he'd normally retail them for $3 each but was thinking of offering them as a special deal for $2 each. The grade 1 size is listed at 10 for $16, so this is a great price!
If you are interested, they can be added to our box for $2.40 per bulb (including shipping), no minimum -- you can order 1 bulb or a dozen. Just post on this thread by 9 am Monday morning. (To put the shipping charge in perspective, if you ordered 20 bulbs and had Bill ship them in a regional flat rate box, shipping would be about $8 -- which is also 40 cents per bulb.)
I'm getting 10 of these jumbo White Wing, just on the principle that if Bill is this excited about the quality of a bulb and the beauty of a variety, they're going to be really impressive.
Bill also said there would be no problem with "holding" tuberoses in my basement, so I've ordered an extra 25 to make available at or before the spring swap. :-)
That sounds great Critter. Thanks so much for taking care of things with Bill.
I dmailed everyone their totals a few weeks ago. It sounds as though the shipping and discount will cancel each other out. People should be in contact with Jill directly regarding payment.
Thanks so much to all for a wonderful bulb buy and thanks especially to SSG for shouldering the work on Saturday morning and serving as seed and bulb angel to several of us! :-)
yes thanks Terry!!
May I first say THANK YOU BILL, for taking such good care of us!! < =)
And, thank you Critter for the heads-up! Those White Wing's sound exciting, could you add 2 of those on for me please? Thank you! =)
And a HUGE Thank You to Terry for being .. just an angel, in general! < =D
And a Thank you Thank you Thank you to Catmint/Robin for volunteering to take this on and see it thru so seamlessly! Bravo!
I say 'white wings' all around for a good group effort.
awww, thanks Coleup! :-)
Critter
Thanks for all you do. I'm so excited. I'd love to come help out but I have to take my mother-in-law in for surgery on Thursday. That's who I ordered all the caladiums for. I'm planting them around the terraced garden that we put in for her. Its going to be so beautiful. thanks so much.
Yehudith
AMEN!! Thank you Catmint and Critter BIG TIME!!!!!! I am soooooooo excited!!!!!! < =D And thank you Happy, for being my seed and bulb fairy! < =)
Thanks Speedie! :-)
Yehudith, I'm sorry to hear your DMIL needs surgery and will be praying for an excellent outcome and quick healing! That's wonderful to know where those caladiums will go... I plant a lot of bulbs and other things at my in-laws, so I know just how much a gift like that is appreciated!
One note about the final invoices... The TUBEROSES came to $1.50 per bulb since we got so many :-), so subtract 10 cents for every tuberose on your order from your total. (If you got 10 tuberoses, you owe me $1 less, and so forth.)
HOW TO PAY ME
If you are picking up your caladiums at Chef Lin, please put cash or check in a clearly marked envelope with my name, your DG name, and the word "caladium."
. . "Caladium $ for Critter from Schazbot"
If you are getting delivery via "caladium fairy," either send cash/check with them or Dmail me so we can make arrangements for you to pay by PayPal.

They are going to look so cool. We moved her in with us. We converted the basement into an apartment for her. Since we didn't have a walkout we excavated the back wall, kicked it out and put in double sliding glass doors so the whole wall is glass. In the area that was excavated we put in a patio with permiable pavers and terraced it up to ground level with a wrought iron fence around it. I'm going to plant the caladiums around the fence, then I'm going to plant more shade plants in the terraces. I ultimately want to add a wall fountain and a hanging wall garden so she will literally be surrounded by flowers. The cool thing is the whole thing can be viewed from the deck so I get the benefit as well. Maybe I should have ordered more!
Yehudith
yehudith, that sounds wonderful!
Wonderful arrangement! If you do decide there's room for more, remember Bill has those luscious 'White Wing' bulbs for $2 each plus shipping... email him, and he can fill a flat rate box for you!
Also, I've got a few extras that I plan to "sell off" to friends & neighbors, but my DG buddies get first dibs... :-)
Goodness Yehudith, that sounds like some very gorgeous work you've done! What a loving gift!! < =D
CALADIUMS ARE HERE!
:-)
I was out most of the day, but Jim was here. He got a concerned phone call from Bill, saying that it looked like FedEx had delivered the bulbs but put them in front of the garage door... " in this weather?? don't they realize these are caladiums???" Jim went out and sure enough, the boxes were at the top of the driveway. He brought them into our nice warm front hall right away.
I'm just glad they arrived today, before this snowstorm!
yes, that is great news, Critter--and thanks to Bill for following up like that!
Bill really loves his babies(bulbs) doesn't he?
; ^)
Yes, I do!!!....lol...
Critter, I already gave SSG the check to give to you last weekend, as she will be my seed/bulb fairy. Do you want her to tear it up?
thanks,
Catmint
No, sorry Catmint, a check is also fine!!
Yes, I do!!!....lol...
And we love you for it and will provide loving homes to all your babies!
Wishing you the best in this less than normal winter.
Amen to what Judy said; your babies will certainly get a good and loving home here! I'm so excited to be a new customer!! =)
