Manfreda Macho Moca Yucca

I brought my macho moca yucca in to over winter since I did not know if it would survive
in zone 7. Now the leaves are splitting from the tip to the base of the leaf? Any suggestions to prevent this?

I'm not sure what the problem might be (photo?) but the leaves on this plant are brittle and can break easily. It could be that it suffered some damage when you were moving it.

The plant also can look and behave quite different depending on conditions (light, water, nutrients). These changes may help give you an idea how the plant is doing. It seems to recover quickly from damage or stress when it's getting the care it needs.

There's some advice in plant files not to water the plant in winter... based on my experience in a mild climate, that's not a good idea when it's not freezing cold. If you've moved the plant inside for the winter, put it in the brightest spot available (ideally with daily sun), and water when the soil is dry or almost dry (which should be about every couple weeks).

This plant is an agave, not a yucca (not that the care would be all that different). There used to be a genus called Manfreda (from which the plant derived its clunky old name, xMangave) but it has now been subsumed under agave, so the correct name for the plant is Agave "Macho Mocha". Good luck!

I have that plant and it sometimes has split leaves.
