I found this spider last fall, anyone know what it is? I think it looks like a cats face on the back.

Wow, what a nice unusual specimen and great pictures. You may want to add at least one to DG's bug files at http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/2084/ for this species.

Minot, ND

This specimen appears to be a female that has laid her eggs and likely will not live much longer...

Thanks,
I posted a photo on bug files. I could not find pics with the same markings online but thought it must be one of those Cat-Faced Spider (Araneus gemmoides). I hope it laid eggs.

Looks like a devil Mardi-Gras mask is stuck on its back. Creepy in a very interesting, intriguing way.

Next October, you may want to enter your best pic in the Annual DG Photo Contest under Weird, Funny and Miscellaneous. A winner.
