Wondering if anyone can identify this spider. My wife found it in one of our kitchen drawers. Had someone say it was a brown recluse, but it doesn't look like pictures I've seen, nor does it have the fiddle or other visual characteristics.
CLOSED: Spider ID
It's a harmless crab spider in the family Thomisidae. See http://www2.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef631.asp for range distribution map for the brown recluse...
Flapdoodle: Thanks for the response. Got a simliar response from another spider ID forum. Good to know it's not a brown recluse. We live just north of Charlotte, NC, in the US. I've noticed that several of the brown recluse range maps don't include NC or SC, but they are around in both states. Thanks for the help!
