Can you identify this one?
CLOSED: What's this?!
love it. Its in the long-horned beetle group.
Should be easy for those who really know.
Whats your continent, if not state/region?
It's in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Guess it's not Indigenous..
It looks like Batocera rufomaculata - see http://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/eng/batrufiz.htm for an image. Known as the tropical fig borer, it is reported to occur from the west coast of Africa to India and also discovered in Syria. Considered a very common species.
Thanks!!
That's the one
lovely creature ;p
Nice image. I have set up a DG Bug Guide file for this species http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/7129/ which can be used for image addition if you wish by clicking on the appropriate link at the bottom area of the page.
I've added some more pictures to your page.
Great pics. Congratulations, you've added a new bug to Dave's Garden bug Guides
Added images to your database. Does anybody know how the clacking sound is made?
I don't know these, but click beetles have a spur underneath their belly that snaps into a space in the other body part when they bend- I think. Probably involves moving body parts, not a 'vocal' thing.
