Thank you for sharing this. Very interesting indeed. I wonder if the plants are very different from the species of that same plant today. In other words, how much would or could a species change in 300 years? Apparently, it did not change so much it could not be identified. I wonder if they grew out plants which they still have not been able to identify. Great project.
The story certainly raises questions...what was the germination rate, are they going to collect seeds? Can I buy some? Perhaps they're going to tow the barge around the world...or perhaps it's too precious to risk?
