Dennis your toad lily flowers are huge compared to mine. Is there a range in size among different species?
I don't know. This is the only variety that I have, and it is about 3 feet tall.
Dennis, those are all great, I especially like the Strawberry Bush.

Beverly, your beds look so lovely and colorful, I love them.
Dennis---I love that toad lily!!!! May have to look for some of those for a shady spot I am planting.
Everything looks great! Dennis, your toad lillies have done very well! Mine never clump like that; I think I'm jealous! LOL
Cheryl, mine get about 2.5" tall. I have some shorter ones as well.
You are giving me ideas with your lovely photos. Thank you!
Mine are pretty tall but the flowers are much smaller. It's the flower size I was wondering about. I want some of those!
I got mine at a round up several years ago. I will keep any eye out for any volunteers to pot up.
I have some Toad lilies too, and I also got them from Pattie (pbtxlady) at one of the swaps. we haven't seen her for a while, wonder what's up with her?
Mine are potted and didn't do well this year.
Very nice, Kitt. Guess you get to see the whole country's leaves as they turn. Cool.
Lastlies before I go to work all night. The red bushes were butchered to 1/3 of the size I had been seeing them. Of the other 3, the pokeweed is all I recognize. Have always told ya'll I must occasionally borrow gardens to fill my need of growing, and I love all the flowers you guys grow-my days arent ordered and mundane as many are, but for me, my days are bleak without the glories you show me!
Love the fall colors, Kitt!
I think my toad lillies also came from Pattie, Josephine. I see her on Facebook from time to time.
Did anyone else get that nasty frost this week? Two mornings I woke to frost, luckily I had a heads up and threw a light blanket over everything after moving it to my porch. My mistflower foliage turned a deep reddish purple, I kind of like it! Hope my pole beans still set seed ok..
Dennis, In what sort of exposure do you grow your toad lilies and how much sun do they get if any?
My toad lilies grow up against the north side of my house, so it is pretty shady.
Thanks Dennis. I got a couple from patti in the spring and they are still alive so I planted them in pretty deep shade. North side of a tree which shades them.
Cheryl, cold weather is coming early Tuesday morning.
How cold?
They're calling for low of 28 overnight Tue/Wed in FW.
Hi everybody. Everyone's blooms and foliage looks really beautiful. What a delight!
These blooms are note worthy in my book! I took these Euphorbia milli (crown of thorns) cuttings in mid August! Can't believe I see blooms already. I have a red variety planted with it that was also taken at the same time.... It too has a large bloom developing. The long, thin bloom reaching for the window is a Senecio kleiniformis. I have another variety of Senecio that is in bloom.... But you can't see the blooms on camera!
It was you Gals that inspired me to plant leafy, flowery shrubs..... Might take a few growing seasons to get photos that could possibly rival those I've just seen! I should be so lucky! Learned a whole bunch from ya'll! Still proud of my succulents! :)
No frost here.... Yet.
Kiley
Hey Kiley :)
I love that crown of thorns, still looking for a white blooming one!
Here's some pictures of various areas in my yard before the freeze hits it tonight :( So unhappy to see it all die back as it's been nice all summer and fall. Hate winter!
I need to explore some of the plants I see in the posts that are new to me. There are some really nice ones that I haven't seen for sale anywhere.
Jlkapps your garden is beautiful! So tidy but packed with color and different forms. I have a similar palette of plants but not near as full and finished looking as yours.
That is really gorgeous, what are the yellow daisy looking flowers?
