Can anyone tell me the species of this bug that I found meeting up to breed on summer squash plants and later on sunflower blooms?
In the photo, the small orange critters on the right are its nymphs.
Ideally, I'd also like to know if these are vectors for cucurbit yellow vine disease (Serratia marcescens).
Leaf-footed Bugs on Sunflowers & Squash in Mid-summer?
These appear to be Leptoglossus phyllopus - http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/showimage/6271/
It has a wide range of host plants (http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/orn/leaffooted_bug.htm) but does not appear to be a disease vector...
