Hello my darlins!!!! It is so nice to be missed and yes, I missed you all too, when I had the time to think of you!! I honestly don't know where to begin!! It was an exhausting but wonderful time first in England where my mum is recovering so well and looks pretty good for an 87 year old (and still smoking!). She lives in a very pretty village in Bedfordshire about 1 hour or so from London. I had almost forgotten how beautiful England can be. This particular village sported many thatched cottages, pretty gardens and thatched pubs dripping with window boxes. Mum lives in a small 1 bedroom apartment for the old folk and is well looked after by the warden and local authorities. My sister lives quite close by! We had one heck of a time looking for accommodation thinking it would be easy for this time of the year - but not so. So the first night, I slept on mum's couch and hubbie on the floor! What a laugh! Then we looked over a couple of B & Bs but they were horrible until finally we hit the jackpot and found a marvellous B & B. It was almost home from home. Wanted to buy so much stuff but couldn't - we were already overloaded with clothes for Ben. I had my long awaited fish and chips and sausage and mash in the local pub. Couldn't believe how inexpensive food was in the supermarkets. Spent a few days with mum and cooked her favourite meal - Roast lamb with all the trimmings - all done in a kitchen where it was crowded if more than one person occupied it!! I must have sweated off a couple of pounds. The weather was glorious but not on the day we headed for Heathrow Airport! We had to be up at 4.30 to be on the road by 5.30 to avoid the conjestion going to London. It was foggy, cold and dark! Hubbie did so well coping with the M25 and I'm real proud of him. Just gets off the plane and drives English style!! Handed back the rental car and set off for Germany where it all happened. But that's for the next episode tomorrow. I'm still bushed and must vacuum up the cats' hair so that we can see where we are going...lol!! And to think I brushed and manicured them before I left! Talk tomorrow - Bye for now!

Hmmmm, so where did the "London Fog" get it's name. LOL I am so glad you got to see your mum and had a nice visit! Can't wait to here about the next country!!

Sounds like you had a really enjoyable trip! Great that your Mum is still pretty independent. You must have had better weather than we have at the moment - it's been snowing here this morning! Looking forward to the next episode!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Almost back to normal!! Went to bed at 6.30 last night, woke up at 10 and had a cup of tea then went back to bed again and slept till 4.30 this morning!! All this sleep - never happened before! Well we flew from Heathrow to Zurich in Switzerland - a nice short trip - and was met by my DD, her husband and an angel called Ben. I was appalled by the pain that still showed on my DDs face and she was completely exhausted. We shed tears of joy - it was so good to see her at last!! The last time was 2 year's ago! Ben looks like his father - the perfect German with blonde hair and blue eyes, with just a hint of DD, especially around the mouth! I fell in love with the Bodensee area of Germany near the Austrian border. The views from the house were magnificent. I fell in love with the food, the bread especially and could have lived on it quite happily! The area is famous for it's beer, apples and dairy produce. The cows were magnificent!! Two nearby towns were Ravensbruck and Wangen. We went to a beautiful ornate church in the nearby town of Amstell - so quaint. The architecture was something to behold with much detailing and no two houses alike which dripped with pelargoniums and other annuals. I have never seen such window boxes and hanging baskets like that ever!! We went to Switzerland, not far from San Moritz, for two days and stayed with the sister of DDs husband. A chalet set in the mountains! I will post photos once we have them developed because words will never describe such beauty! Our stay in Germany was wonderful but exhausting. Little Ben was continually crying and obviously in pain - it could be an allergy to cows' milk and this is being pursued at the moment. It took four of us to manage the household and Ben and we had little sleep, especially DD who was still not well! The weather was beautiful and our time with our family and new grandson just precious and it broke my heart to leave. Like I said, I will post pictures as soon as I can and hope that I don't overwhelm you too much with too many photos. It hardly seems real!! Here we are back in the US and it all seems like a dream. For those people who are still wary of flying, please think again! The security was excellent and I never felt threatened at any point. Now I can't wait for Spring because that's when 'the family' will be visiting us here. A final, very special message to Lisa! Your gifts for Ben were beautiful. My daughter was lost for words at your generosity and kindness and hopes that she can meet you when she comes to the US!! Thanks ((((Lisa)))) as ever :-)

You have time to worry about me? LOL Everything is fine. The 'pea' is doing exactly what she is supposed to, kicking the crud out of me and smashing my bladder! LOL I had my six month while you were gone-passed my glucose test and I am not anemic. These are good things. Got my rhogam shot yesterday and I go for my seven month next week. All is well. :) Thank you for asking.
