I was in Tahoe and found this outside of an antique store...Can't find a like pic online anywhere... ?? Any ideas?
What type of spider is this?
Definitely an Araneus sp. I suspect that it may be an unusually hairy/spiky variant of a cat-faced spider, Araneus gemmoides - see http://bugguide.net/node/view/693456 for an example. Spiders in this genus can show tremendous individual variation within a given species.
