Hi Dave.
This species of Spider has been over running homes in my area. People are frequently taking pictures and uploading them to Facebook of their visitors.
I would be interest to learn of the name of this species and if it can bite and leave an infection. The reason I ask about the biting is the new introduced False widow spider than has been spotted in other parts of the UK in the last few weeks.

I believe it may be a house spider Tegenaria duellica
This species now is recognized as Eratigena atrica - Tegenaria duellica (= T. gigantea) & T. saeva were all synonymized with T. atrica (now Eratigena atrica) in the paper "Phylogeny and taxonomy of European funnel-web spiders of the Tegenaria−Malthonica complex (Araneae: Agelenidae) based upon morphological and molecular data."
