Cuttings in Pot

Jackson, MO(Zone 6b)

So, how many cuttings can you put in one pot?

Does this look alright or should I put each cutting in a separate pot?

Picture 1 & 2 are Angelonia

Picture 3 is Large Leaf Basil

I hope the plants make it. I get about 50% success which when I taught school that was an F. :(
Thanks for your in put. I also took a few cuttings from the Heliotrope that literally blooms all summer likewise with the Angleonia. Both of these plants are still blooming.

Hi birder,

Sure, you can put several cuttings in one pot. Usually, you'll have one or two that won't root anyway :-) Once the cuttings have rooted, it's very easy to remove each one and plant them into separate pots. Tiny seedling usually transplant with no problem at all.

I've propagated many plants from cuttings over the years but never angelonia. I love angelonia, and grow them every year, but they are just soooo easy to grow from seed.

I agree with juhur, the cuttings look good. Are you keeping them under lights and covering them with something so they won't just dry out right away?

Hi, Birder---

I agree with everything said above. Not much i can add,,,All good advice.

Did you plan to grow them all in the pots as you have it? if so--that is OK.
If you plan to separate them in individual pots--do it early in the rooting process
just like art33 said.

I have never taken cuttings from Angelonia! They sure look good.
Do you know you can grow Persian Shield from tip cuttings too?

My Angelonia seeds seem to be mixed (???) with Dwarf red Coreopsis
seeds. How that happened--i don't know.
For the last 2 years, I have started to grow Angelonias from seed--
and ended up with the Coreopsis. I LOVE Angelonias!

My challenge this winter will be to keep all my Coleus cuttings going.
I acquired a lot of new ones this summer (Our Swaps) and want to keep them going.
As of yesterday--ALL my plants are inside. Getting out first frost tonight. ...o(
All my Brugs are still outside--all my Caladiums still need to be dug up--
All my Cannas (LOTS!) are all still in lush foliage...Oh, my!

Good to "talk" you to you, birder....Jump back to the Mid Atlantic now and then.

Happy Holidays! All of the ones coming........Gita

My Dr. Seuss Brugmansia end of September.....
