another pair given to me from a friend who believes they are false widows, can they be Identified plz?

These spiders appear to be in the genus Steatoda, which includes the species known collectively as false widow spiders - see http://wiki.britishspiders.org.uk/index.php5?title=False_Widow_Spiders
However, false widows are not nearly as dangerous as some articles in the tabloid press would have you believe...
