I've seen people talking about False Widow sightings around here recently, just seen this on my doorbell. It's laying eggs so I'd like to put that to a halt if it's a widow. From Googling I cannot be sure if it or is not, some results look similar and some look totally different.
CLOSED: Is this a False Widow?
Definitely not a false widow; it's in a different family altogether (Araneidae). The image isn't clear enough to be certain, but it might be a furrow weaver in the genus Larinoides - see http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/076/b/2/larinioides_cornutus_____by_duggiehoo-d4t3apd.jpg for an example.
Thank you, I think I'm just a bit paranoid now! :)
