I saw this beetle with a dalmatian pattern on the side of a Lowe's building in Tampa near my home. It was about 1" long. Sorry that the photo is a little fuzzy, but it was the best I could do with my phone camera. Can anyone assist with identification? I did a Google search, but nothing exactly like it came up. Thanks.
"Dalmatian" Beetle Identification Question
Are your sure it's a beetle? The photo looks like a moth - maybe a Giant Leopard Moth?
That appears correct - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_leopard_moth. An unrelated moth known as the Hebrew can be superficially similar - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygrammate_hebraeicum
Simply a giant leopard moth whose wings haven't/didn't expand fully..
And please start a new thread rather than jumping on an old one...
