A friend gifted this to me but I've forgotten what she said it was. I'm hoping it is something naturally droopy or it just simply isn't 'happy'!
What type of fir?
Looks more like a deodar cedar than a fir.
There are many weeping forms (which can be very beautiful).
Thanks, I guess they are slow growers? It's living in the mohave desert, I don't know of it will thrive.
Yep, Deodar Cedar. And yep, naturally droopy. It should be OK with some irrigation, as long as the irrigation water is salt-free.

Thanks- just now it's been rainwater from the monsoons, otherwise well water, which seems to do fine. I read its a fast grower. Can I hope for 10 feet tall in 2-3 years? It's been in the ground since June of 2012.
Not that fast - I'd say in 6 or 7 years. Maybe 4-5 years with irrigation.
