Anyone know what this is?
Like a wasp with no wings, but NOT a velvet ant...
It is a beetle of some type. Cannot see it clearly enough to say what kind.
My first thought was beetle, but the only pictures I could find online that looked similar were wasps...it is definitely furry like a was or bee of some kind....but no wings....
Hope you're right...
It's a large rove beetle (family Staphylinidae) - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/58961964 for an example. They are general predators on other small arthropods.
