Want to grow hot poker from seed

I want to try different things from seed. I know I can divide them and grow that way, but I want to grow some from seed for fun. Do I refrigerate the seeds in perlite or anything special.

I am still not sure if they need stratified , I do know they have to be grown for a season to survive any place that has severe winters ,
I have grown them from seed , but have no idea if the seed was stratified or not . I still have them as rather a large plant.

Thanks. I may just have to experiment with them. I am really doing this out of curiosity to see what new kinds of things I can grow from seed this winter
