Seed Saving Sites

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

t'm sure that many of you old timer seed savers have seen how useless google has become for help with saving seeds. I used google extensively for years with much success in learning the craft. then my old computer bit the dust and I bought a laptop only to find that when I put in a search for any seeds - this time it was for indian teasel - the only thing that came up was retail seed sellars. How sad. Anyway, I was hoping someone could direct me to the old sties that have all the info that we need. Many thanks. ansonfan

Did you have the sites saved on your computer?

The only thing different between you old and new computer should should be that the new one doesn't have the same cookies yet that kind of directed Google to where you normally go.

Three sites that may help.
http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/weedguide/singlerecord.asp?id=850
http://images.library.wisc.edu/WI/EFacs/USAIN/WSHS/WSHSv02/reference/wi.wshsv02n10.walsh01.pdf

Onondaga county they talk about is the county that Syracuse, NY is in. It was grown as a crop once.

Well I'm afraid that when the cpu went it took no prisoners, so I'm really glad to get hold of this info. I've been out of the garden awhile due to some health issues and my fingernails really need some dirt under them. Thanks a lot.

ansonfan,
I am not sure if the info you are looking for how to save seeds, or how to sprout them. The saving is easy. Just wait until the stem under the seed pod turns brown. Plants cut off nutrients to stems when the seeds are ready to harvest.

If you are looking for the how to germinate seeds here are links I have saved to my computer and use.

George,

sometimes what I do is... back up my bookmarks and email them to myself.

I always do a back up, but this is a sure way my 'favorites' are always safe.

Thanks to everyone for the info. Everyone here is always so nice and it means a lot. I'll try not to make the same mistake again.
