I keep hearing this flying in to my light shade, no idea what it is or if it should be in the house?

This appears to be a shield bug (family Acanthosomatidae) - see http://www.flickr.com/photos/15121707@N00/8147785327 for an example. Just an accidental drop-in visitor...
